More fault codes

Featured Replies

Changed cam sensor and reset last Friday, management light came back on at 7pm. The faults that came up after cam sensor was changed- 16727 cam position sensor. 18010- power supply terminal 30 voltage to low. 16891- idle control system rpm higher than expected. 17544- fuel trim bank 1 system to lean. 16396-bank 1camshaft ( intake) advance set point not reached. On a good note it's passed the mot. Been told it could be cam timing but parts will take it over the grand. Could it be the maf or something to do with airflow meter or combo of both? Car could be for sale unless there's a good 1.8t engine wizard about in club

Could it be that the cam sensor is looking for values related to a brand new system yet a tad of wear would knock it off? Reset or calibration required?. Clutching at straws..

My maf sensor was allegedly off but it didnt cause all that.

I would check your belt and chain timing before you do much, as you could be a tooth out on the belt timing. Page here for guidance - http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/octavia-mk1/drive_unit/1.8_ltr./110_kw_engine_mechanical_components/engine_cylinder_head_valve_gear/camshaft/removing_and_installing_camshafts_and_camshaft_adjuster/

The chain tensioner at the rear is driven by oil pressure, so a good feed from the sump is essential for good operation.  Do you know when the oil strainer was last changed?.

Code links below for your info, some relate to poor crankcase ventilation, are your vacuum and breather hose ok?, also did you clear the previous codes down and these  are the ones that came back?.

If not clear the codes and see what returns.

Cheers kentphil1 I hope this sorts it out. Have changed the battery, lambda sensor and had it serviced. It did have a blocked pick up pipe in the sump but was ok. Maybe needs checking again. 3 coil pack have been changed under the recall issue but don't understand why 3?. Will keep you posted and hopefully it's fixed after these checks.

One of your coils was probably a replacement for a failure so if replaced with oem could be the updated one, or its an aftermarket one in either case it wouldn't qualify for recall. Have a look at the part number on it. If it's an old aftermarket one I'd be tempted to replace with a new oem so everything's in line.
