Ballamy's of Shoreham-by-Sea - NO LONGER A SKODA DEALER

Featured Replies

Took my Octy there for a service a while back, very good service overall, got a nice little Furby courtesy car for the day, got a phone call when she was ready and the staff are very helpful overall and I was greeted by a nice shiny car on my return.

Popped in on another visit to have new wiper blades fitted and locking wheel nuts sorted (see entry for Crawley Down:mad:), there was a bit of confusion from the fleet company but the guy at the service desk (over t'road from showroom:thumbup:) moved heaven and earth to try and sort it for me.

The fleet company were being asses so I was essentially left minus 2 lokky wheel nuts so the guy sorted me 2 standard nuts so at least I had a full set on the car.

The proper lemon fan washer fluid was a good price too, just over 2 quid a bottle. :D

The only downer is the service dept. is shared with Saab so you get looked down at by Saab owners on occasions (but I don't care, it's only a Vectra no?)

I know quite a few Saab people who'd go nowhere near Bellamy's for servicing and choose Turners Hill instead. They are also not cheap. I don't know how Saltdean Skoda compare on the labour rate, but the missus' first serviced on a Fabia VRS was just £115.

One would hope that as Saab owners like to be different, that they would embrace rather than shun the Skoda brand. I have!!

Sales: Keith Sales Exec and Wayne the Manager came across as friendly and non pushy, willing to chat and listen, explain options and then do a good deal (although what is a good deal can be relative/subjective to each one's circumstances, I was happy).

Although I'm writing this the afternoon after ordering a car, so in a good mood, I would say I enjoyed the experience. Which is what you want really.

Will update post here on how the order progresses, delivery and so on.

Ceased trading (I believe), part of the Citygate Group which had the recievers called in on Saturday 22nd July 2006.

This includes Saltdean Motors i.e the Peacehaven dealership - the company also ran Diahitsu down the coast road too - according to the Argus it wasn't making any money on car sales - would have thought it should have been making money on its servicing - it took me a week to get my car looked at a couple of months ago and all that taxi work too........don't know where my nearest dealership will be now and my car is only 4 months new so stuck with finding a dealer under the warranty for next 3 years......

the merger was called off according to the argus - see link under saltdean garage

I bought my vRS from these guys 6 months ago, god dammit - where will i go now! Anyone from the Sussex area have a decent Skoda dealer they go to??? HELP!

I bought my car from them a few days before they went, just glad I collected it earlier than I was meant to or I may have had trouble. There is a dealership in Chichester I believe, but I don't know if they are any good, if anyone has had any dealings with them be good to hear.

Part of the same group I'm affraid so no longer in business either. I have heard that there may be a resurection of a dealership for Skoda on the South Coast but have no idea as to when that will happen.

Please don't say that just leaving Crawley Down, please no.

There's always Clarion Cars in Worthing. Though they are no longer official Skoda agents (which they were for many years, possibly the oldest agent in the country at one stage I think) they have the knowledge and experience to maintain the cars and I've personally found them to be really pleasant and helpful just like the 'old days' when the majority of agents were one site private Skoda dealers who know the value of service and its resulting customer loyalty.

Skoda really should look at offering smaller dealers the option to remain official service only agents just like Peugeot, Renault etc. do in France for their small country garages. They seem fixated on large multi-site dealers, what a shame.
