Columbus rns 510

Featured Replies

So after purchasing an rns 510 5 months ago I decided to get an oem shark fin for the roof. After working for a day the sat nav will now not pick up any satellites. Iv plugged the facra antenna back in and it still won't work.

Any advice?

When you say it won't pick up any satellites, do you mean it doesn't see any satellites (0/0) or does it see them but fail to lock on to them (0/12)

It says 0/0

Then if you've tried both antennas and it's still the same, then I reckon the GPS board is fried.

Are the boards easy to get hold of? And are they easy to change?

There's one on Ebay at the moment for £70 and it's a fair old strip down to replace it. I have one advertised in the link in my sig, but someone bought it a few weeks ago. I might have another though. Or another option is I have an RNS510 for sale also, and I can do an exchange against yours and you don't get any risk.

I had the same problem. The roof shark fin and bee-sting combi is awful for damp. In the end I got an £5 gps antenna and put it under the dash inside the car and never has a problem again.

i recently swapped my roof aerial for the oem elegance spec so it supports both gps & phone kit and it works perfect with no leaks so far.
