For some reason on my 2011 Superb MkII Twindoor the brake lights utilise a W16W (16W) bulb.

 

I've always thought they were a little dim, now I've noticed that they are not the usual 21W bulbs this makes more sense.

 

If simply swapping them out for 21W bulbs doesn't work (CANBUS, physical size etc.) does anyone know if their brightness can be increased?

 

I noticed these options in VCDS Byte 19. I see the headlights and tail lights can be adjusted, does anyone know if the brake lights can be too?

 

Have you tried looking in the Central Electrics 09 >> Adaptations? Most of my experience has been on MQB cars so not sure if it is also possible on Superb II, but on some of the lighting channels you can change the % brightness. Just need to find out what the brake light channels are though.

Adaptions give u no options about lighting. Just deactivate the dimming!!

OK, finally got round to plugging it in to reset the service alert after an oil change.

 

Had another quick look at the drop down menu's, didn't want to alter anything without being sure.

 

Do you reckon changing from A0 to one of the others will increase the brightness of the tail lights?

 

Yes. Inactive will give u more light. If the eprom is 100% and not dimmed.

Just out of curiosity what is eprom (a quick Google search resulted in: erasable programmable read-only memory)?

 

I haven't changed it (I don't think) so it should be at 100%?

The eprom can be read and writed with a VCP cable

Eprom is the memory of the ecu I think.
