I'm new to the group so hi to everyone. Got a skoda octavia 1.9TDI 02 plate, was getting a brake light failure on the dash and after looking on here saw it was probably the switch, I took it off and blow it out and tried it back on, it said the same but the break lights were permanently on so i will get a new one in the morning. My question is it said check engine anx the coil sign came on when i put it back in, is this related or is this a completely separate issue?

You wont find out until you replace the switch but yes they can be related.
