Chunks detail of his Skoda Superb estate 3.6

Featured Replies

Okay guys having been an avid reader of all the posts in this section for a while I thought I should finally post up my own detailing thread.
I have a 2011 Skoda Superb estate with just over 40,000 miles on and like to do a good all round job of looking after it.

So it's due it's winter detail which is a normal wash routine followed by Collinite 476s with some Sonax BSD on top. But due to my recent purchase of BMD Nemesis I decided to use this instead and have gone through my routine below which I completed today:

- Rinse followed by Autobrite Magifoam applied through one of their snow foam lances and another rinse
- Two bucket method using grit guards and two wash mitts (both Megs although one is a blue wash mitt specifically for the wheels) using Megs gold class shampoo on the body work and wheels (wheels were cleaned and sealed the week before with poorboys wheel sealant, awaiting this to run out to change to a ceramic sealant)

- Purple monster drying towel on paintwork and Halfords waffle weave drying towel used on the wheels
- Iron X and Autoglym tar remover followed by a good going over with a Farecla clay mitt using a new bucket with Megs gold class shampoo as a lubricant
- Rinsed off and dried again as per the above
- Highlighted only a couple of areas that needed a small amount of swirl removal so went over those areas with Gtechniq P1 followed by car pro eraser.
- By this time the tyres were dry so applied some Megs Endurance tyre gel to the tyres using a brush as my applicator pad broke
- Sonax BSD applied to the doorshuts and exhaust (Polished with autosol about a week ago so was still nice and shiny)

- Then it was onto my new purchase of BMD Nemesis which was lovely to apply (looks very strange on the applicator pad as it's very grainy) and it buffs off so much better than Collinite 476s but when you look at the price difference you would probably expect that!
It was buffed off using my new Car Pro BOA super plush microfibre which is nicer than my own bath towel!

I am in the process of adding pictures below (now added) but they don't look very good compared to how the car looks in person. It's been very overcast here today so there was no real light to get a good reflective shot.

That's pretty much my normal routine apart from having done some swirl removal with Gtechniq P1 I would normally go over the full car with Autoglym SRP before applying Collinite or in this case BMD Nemesis followed by Sonax BSD. BMD Nemesis feels so good on the paintwork I couldn't bring myself to do it!
I also have a DAS 6 Pro plus although in this occasion decided not to break it out. I will probably use BSD after my next wash like I normally do on a weekly basis on the paintwork and the wheels.

Let me know what you guys think constructive criticism always welcome as I am only a beginner.
I am still adding to my collection of detailing items and still need to add some better applicator pads and a couple more high quality microfibres.

Thanks for reading,

Chunk

Great and informative write up! Thanks for taking the time to post.

The finish looks awesome. Really nice work!

And may I congratulatre you on your car. That is an awesome bit of engineering, and is the best shape and colour IMO. I miss my estate!

The BMD waxes are a little grainy aren't they. I found it a little weird, but the results they give are outstanding!
