The Chrome!

Featured Replies

Can anyone reccomnend a good cleaning method to bring the chrome up, its plastic coated so obviously don't want to be going at it and heating it, was going to just try autosol?

Cheers in advance

I've used Autosol on my chrome plastic trim on the front of my car.

Works well, but I would suggest trying something a little lighter such as britemax. They have a twin system of cut & polish. If the cut and polish is needed it's very good. It's a liquid rather than an abrasive paste but does have quite substantial cut. Depends on what needs removing from the chrome. The second stage is a finish & seal. I use that on my exhausts as they are already shiny. Just keeps the shine rather than cutting through.

To much Autosol would probably end up ruining it as it can be quite abrasive.

If you get the metal twins from britemax (£16) for the pair. Smaller bottles, once you have done the cut and polish, you finish and seal with the second stage. In theory it won't need 'cutting' again.

Hope this helps. :)

+1 on this - thanks for posting Karl.

Autosol has its place and I use it regularly on exhaust chrome etc.

Meguiars NXT metal polish is also good; a slightly finer grade abrasive;

but after this Britemax Metal twins are very very good :thumbup:

Autosol is a great metal polish

BUT

I have been using Meguiars NXT Metal Polish, and find that very much on par, but more economical to use
