Fabia 1.2TSI

Hi briskoda fans,

my old Felicia is going to die soon, because the cooling water is starting to get into the engine and some other things, so I'm looking to replace it with another car. I was looking to buy something to max 7000€ and got a look on this:

It's price now is 6950€, it has 47000km, I went for a test drive and it drives really great. The only problem is I heard this engines had problems with chains and parts related to it, so it had to be changed because of the rattle and the damage it could do to the engine if it brakes. So I went with it to the offcial vw mechanic and they told me, the chain wasn't changed and this needs to be done. They told me the cost of the repair is 900€. :|

All the other things of the car are great, other than the rear tires that need to be changed right away

I told the reseller, that if the owner sells the car for 6000€, I buy it, else no. But the reseller told me that the owner won't sell a car like this for so low, and that he will speak to the owner and try to get an agreement with him, that he changes the chain (the reseller will) and the other parts that need to be changed, because the parts are not more than 200€, the other is work that isn't cheap at vw.

So, what should I do ? Is the car safe, if he changes the chain, tensoner, the gears and the plastic around the chain ? Or should I stay away from it ?

You have not told us the age of this car_ this will help. The later 1.2 TSI engines were revised from the earlier troublesome units
