Todays cleaning and wax session

Featured Replies

So last weekend i went over to see my mate matt at obsidian detailing over saddleworth way and he kindly spent some time machine polishing the roof of my fabia due to some deep scratches that had been bugging me for a while.  Anyhow 3 hours later he made a huge differance to roof and he kindly leant me some Obsession show wax to take home and play with (my choice cause i liked the smell and colour lol)

Last weekend i got one coat on the roof after polishing yesterday saw the second coat and today i was back out again to slap on a third coat (my neighbours must think ive really lost the plot)

So to summarise the roof has obssesion show wax and the body has bouncers sherbet fizz with the obsession wax on top and then a wipe down with bouncers done and dusted.

Looking great Mark

Not used Obsession myself or Boncers

CU soon

My only complaint with bouncers is that it's a pig to get off if you leave it on too long. This is my first time using obsession wax I have to say it's nicer to work with but with,but with it being a "show" wax I'm not expecting durability to be as good as bouncers (only time will tell)

Looks awesome buddy!!! Thanka for your thoughts on the waxes too. Heard great things about the Obsession Show Wax.

Matt is an awesome detailer. His write ups are by far and away my favourites on DW. Very honest with great results.

The vRS is looking superb there Mark - top job and using great products. :thumbup:

I'm interested in your longer term comments on the show wax.

Most on the market are 2 months max - realistically.

Cheers,
Ste.

Think what I'm going to do is every time I wash the car I shall still do my usual q/d wipedown apart from the roof where I shall just dry after washing. Shall see how long 3coats of obsession lasts on the roof.

Sounds good Mark...

What QD are you currently using - out of interest?

Good idea

I often do a panel with something else, just to see what happens...Or half a bonnet

What QD are you using at the moment?

Currently using 3 different ones depending what mood I'm in lol. Bouncers done and dusted,chemical guys speed wipe and gtechniq q/d.

Also looking to try something new if you've got any recommendations?

I highly rate Gyeon Cure QD

DJ Supernatural Spritz QD

Best value is Power Maxed QD...I highly rate it

BUT the one and only Sonax BSD is probably miles ahead of the opposition

Ah yes - I recall now - you had gone for Done & Dusted.

I'm sure BSD will be good one for winter - but don't forget its a QS (sealant) rather than QD;

so it doesn't feel anywhere near as slick on the paint or give as a good a finish as QD's generally IMO.

QD's I would recommend are KKD Mist-X, Angelwax QED, and Auto Perfection Clarity;

all mega slick and great gloss levels can be achieved.

You say you have Gtechniq QD; how do you rate it Mark? I have a sample - as yet unused.
