Have I knackered my headlight adjustment screw?

Featured Replies

I've just had to replace my passenger side headlight and when I have went to adjust the beam height using the little screws in the above picture the what appears to be a phillips head type plastic screw has basically disintegrated into nothing / rounded off.

Above are the adjusters I am referring to and below are pics of the horizontal adjuster which is in tact and the vertical adjuster which has self destructed / rounded itself off.

Am I totally screwed here (pardon the pun) or is there any other way of sorting this?

Thanks in advance for an advice.

Apologies if I am being dumb here but I cannot see the worm screw part that I need to replace

Bugger neither can I ............dealers parts dept then...............

Looks like an allen key fitting. Looks like one of them has been replaced before, hence the two different types on one light.

Try turning the allen bit as I fail to see how the screw in the first pic could turn separately from the hexagon bit it sits in.

It's a brand new headlight that I only fitted a few days ago & both screws looked identical to start with. The one that has rounded off, well it was like putting a knife in butter.

Going to give Skoda a ring this morning as it is a brand new OEM part that shouldn't be this like.

OK but the allen head fitting might still turn and do the same job. However, I  see what you mean about them being new and it shouldn't have broken off/rounded out in the first place.

I cant see on my car at the minute but i think someone on mine tightened a small jubilee clip onto the adjuster,so you can now turn it.
