Warning - bodywork

Featured Replies

Hope that has your attention.

Now, i have had my Octy in for some warranty work a couple of weeks ago, and its going in again soon. I had a close look around it the other evening to make sure there wasn't anything i missed.

I used to have a MK3 golf and my wife has a 1997 polo, so i know the general weaknesses when it comes to bodywork problems.

I had a check around all the doors and hinges where water could get trapped. I then checked around the boot hinges and thats when i noticed it. Not the hinge, but beside the boot hinge on the cars body hidden under black grease/ dirt.

A platic clip around the rubber casing around the electrics to the boot lid has been rubbing against the body (internal) of the car and has created a very small perforation.

My car is still under 3 year warranty, but i think the antiperforation warranty is more.

Please check your boot, and make sure to clean the grease where the hinge is.

Thats a great heads up...

I've checked mine, and its fine (as it should be for a 7 month old car), but I'm sure there will be other members who are affected.

Hi

10 Years for the perferation thing.

The best one was at the bottom of the rear window.

That could be worth a look too.

My car has a little bubbly spot on the top of the sill (where you would fix a stainless steel sill guard).

If I make a claim under the 10 yr anti-perforation warranty what will they do ?

Is the bodywork perforated? Is there evidence of damage (stone chips, scratches etc)?
