Well, picked up our new Octy 1.8 TSi Estate L&K yesterday and have taken it out for a couple of spins. Am blown away!

 

Colour is Rio Red - darker than I was expecting but very pleasing - almost tinting towards chestnut. Interior impeccable, but so many bells and whistles to learn ...

 

Engine is almost silent, ride firm but comfortable, road noise noticeable, but no worse than our previous Mk 2 diesel - probably notice it more because of the quiet engine - and it does have 18" wheels.

 

What is a revelation in the gearbox. Our old car left you in no doubt when it was changing gears; on this I can't detect any shift. Nor does it come to a halt with an unavoidable clunk as the old car did. Not sure about the auto stop-start - may cancel it out. Raining solidly now, so no chance of checking the panoramic sunroof.

 

Off to the US tomorrow, but will get down to exploring all the goodies on return.
