HID kits

Featured Replies

Has anybody fitted a hid kit to a Octavia 1z? I was going to but read somewhere that it can damage some Ecu they have?

The kits sold as "canbus" friendly often are simply large capacitors to fool the car into thinking normal bulbs are fitted.

These can fry the cars solid state electronics.

Best advice is to fit a non-canbus kit and code the car to know it has xenons fitted.

Londoncolour kits are highly rated, and lots of members including myself have had success with them.

Have a look at the below guide:

Ok thanks pal, this telling the car it's got xenons, I assume that's a job for skoda? And on facelift 1z do you have to remove bumper to remove light?

Ok and are the bulbs h1 or h7? Haven't checked yet?

No the light just undo similar to the pre facelift.

You can code the car with VCDS. Find a local member with VCDS to help you do it.

If yours is a facelift, I'd seriously consider not upgrading.

A fair few BCMs have been fried, even by seemingly quality HID kits. That said, plenty of members have them fitted in facelift cars, so make your own mind up :)

Ok pal thanks, it's not worth risk, I'll just get normal whiter bulbs :)
