advice needed used car please

Featured Replies

car has had a new engine apparently under warranty, will that mean new chains?

if looking at used car 10plate anything I should look for, it sailed through its mot but told her friends service car has a garage so maybe more not as harsh.

Is it worth paying for a vehicle inspection, don't want to be buying someone elses problems, also car not been used much done less than 300mile since last service, could this have negative effect on car, not being driven, im thinking brakes etc

What car are we talking about? Obviously a fabia but which one? If it's had a brand new engine then everything inside of the that engine will be new.

sorry its a 2010 1.2 fabia se, 12 v apparently engine replaced at just over £3200 in 2012, due to misfire, invoice doesn't really state much

would that mean it might still have fault with timing chain issue, told if it makes a noise from start up needs attention

any advice appreciated going to view tomorrow

Are you buying from a Car Dealership.?

There is New Consumer Laws in place,

if it is faulty, you can return it and you do not have to accept them repairing it.

30 days, but you can find out in just a couple of days if it is faulty.

What sort of money is being paid for it.

Who serviced it 300 miles ago.

Call Skoda UK Customer Services and find out if it had a New Engine fitted Under Manufacturers Warranty,

and what if anything else was done.

EDIT,

Sorry, missed post #3.

So there is an Invoice.

?

Where was the Replacement Engine fitted.

& where is it being sold at now?

its being sold privately, asking £3400

I have seen the invoice from skoda, to say fitted under warranty, due to misfire.

it been serviced at local garage since then, (Friends) due to lack of confidence from skoda back in November 2012, story is car went for service was fine beforehand after service pick up mis firing.

it was originally a ex demo car till bought at 6 months old.

Seems quite a rare problem on the new HTP's. Theres a few that have done it, but not too many.

Chances of having 2 faulty units one after another?

Id take the chance. Theyre usually hassle free engines
