Help with touchup paint

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm a Skoda newbie, having bought a 2007 Octavia RS last week.

There are a few imperfections on the car that I'm trying to sort out, and I need advice regarding touch-up paint: that car has a number of stone chips that have been touched up prior to my ownership, but having visited my local Skoda dealership yesterday, I've come up empty handed when attempting to purchase some touch-up paint.

The car is factory yellow, but the parts guys were unable to find a stock code for my color using my VIN "your car is weird" - very helpful!

I can't understand how they can't find the product: paint is the factory color, and there were only 2 colors available in my year of manufacture. They refuse to order anything that they can't reference by VIN number, so that's a dead end (thanks Skoda Australia!).

At some point, the top portion of the rear bumper had come out of its clips, and the underneath of the bootlid has rubbed on the top of the bumper. It must have been like this for a while, because it's left significant marks on the bumper ( I've managed to polish the bulk of ten out, and rubbed through the paint in a number of places where the bootlid was touching. I just want to tidy it up a bit now that I've repositioned the bumper correctly...

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can order a touch up pen/tin and get it shipped?

Sorry if this post is in the wrong section: it just seemed logical to ask in the detailing area...

Try a company called Chipex. They are a UK based company but may be able to ship to you. Long shot but worth a go. They match the paint codes. Haven't heard a bad review of them yet.

If not I'm sure you'll have a similar company around!

Very true - I have a Chipex kit for the .:R36 Biscay Blue.

I'm going to buy one myself for the vRS. Extremely easy to use aswell according to the company after having a chat with them.

Cheers guys: I'll check the paint code next week when I get the car back: just dropped it off today to get the wheels refurbished and painted...

Thanks heaps for the suggestions; watch this space!

My local Halfords managed to match the colour of my Alfa (Bianco Argento, a sort of champagne) from the code exactly, much to the surprise of the yoof behind the counter as it had all sorts of pigments in there. Maybe easier than Chipex...

I once bought some paint from Halfords

They mixed it for me

Perfect match
