Brake upgrade questions

Featured Replies

I posted a similar question in the performance upgrades section but didn't get an answer so thought I'd try here...

I want to improve the braking performance of my Octavia. I was wondering if the vRS brakes and calipers (front and rear) would fit behind the standard 16" alloys. If not, bearing in mind I don't want to change the wheels, what would be a decent upgrade?

They should do, the vRS wagon came with 16" alloys.

I was wondering about clearance between the face of the calipers and the inside of the wheel spokes.

I wonder if a test-fit might be possible. Anyone friendly in the North East got a vRS I can quickly whack one of my wheels onto? :D No rush, I won't be doing it until the back end of November :P

Abo where abouts in the north east are you ? I'm in Sunderland

vRS brakes will fit as I've put them on my Tdi estate. That had 16" wheels on. You will have to change the front hubs though as the setup is different for the calliper carrier. On the rears will need to change the backplates as the ones you have will foul the discs, so you will probably need two new rear hubs too as they have to be removed to replace the backplates.

Er, the 130 has different brakes (same calipers as vRS) to our 110s.

In that case its a direct fit then? I was given the wrong info. :S

You were correct, for anything except the TDi130 and 1.8T cars. (I think; no idea about 2.0l brakes)
