Engine swap

Featured Replies

Is it a massive job to swap my 1.4mpi engine for a 1.4 16v AUB engine (100bhp)

Well I thought swapping between 2 TDIs would be easy enough, but was wrong. I dread to think of the differences between the 8v and 16v 1.4s.

Much better off selling up and finding a true 16v IMO. Now someone will come along and say that about my project too, but **** 'em!  :D :P

I think if half way through the job you had been able to go back to the start and do things differently you'd have sold your car as it was and bought a VRS to mod.

You mean buy a vRS and put pd100 bumpers on?

Like in Back to the Future III when that train is heading toward the valley.... I passed the point of no return quite early on - especially after selling the pd100 block before I even got the thing running right.

You stuck with it though & from the looks of it, you're now a happy & proud owner of a totally custom car :)

@Anders - you may want to have a look through Jason's posts on this site to see how much work he (and several others from here ;)) have had to do to get where he is now. If you are able to spend the time, money, have a spare car to tie you over, and have tons (!!) of patience no doubt it could be done.
