So I recently advertised my fabia vrs, I put the modifications etc and the bad bits like the dint in the wing , the EML Light issue (Assured it was a relay for the glowplugs) and a oil leak (could be sump seal or something doesn't bother me)

Anyway I thought £xxxx would be a good price but then I get messages offering like £---- , now im not stupid but wow

Made a bit less descriptive for a non Freedom bod.

Have you thought on paying to be able to advertise it on Briskoda and see if you get any interest in it?

Not commenting on your car but I always assume when the seller describes a problem that  - if it was truly a dead easy fix - he would have fixed it before advertising.

I would change the relay and ignore the leak unless it is a really significant leak and try again.

People always make silly offers, just ignore them.

People obviously want to get something for as little as they can but I agree with the above comments. If someones advertising a car with so called little faults then why hasn't he fixed them, what else may be wrong with it ect ect.

Buying a second hand car is a risky business and your relying on the integrity of the seller, integrity is something that is harder to find nowadays.

I understand what you all are saying and the oil leak was picked up on the mot last month which passed but due to me loosing my job it's becoming a struggle to run with my insurance and everything , obviously the problems I put done affect me because I know it starts first time so I'm used to the EML Light etc

but downgrading is the reason for sale

You can't blame people for trying it on, it's a buyers market out there and no one I know would pay advertised price for a private sale car. Plus the fact there are 100 others out there for people to choose from which probably don't have any faults, or at least any faults listed. That will be putting a lot of people off I reckon.

Why not fix the problems yourself then you don't have to list them in the add? I wouldn't even mention an oil leak so long as it don't need topping up every few hundred miles. There is such a thing as too much honesty when trying to shift a used car lol. You list every niggle and fault and you'll likely not sell it or get people making silly offers.

In fairness the £1100 isn't a bad offer, it's only £300 less than your advertised price and given that it could cost £100 or so to put the issues right it's not too far out...

If you want £1400 for the car, get the issues fixed then put it up for say £1600 so there is a bit of wiggle room for folk to barter.

If you met in the middle that would be about what you'd expect from a bit of bartering.

Don't forget, Xmas isn't too far away and if you're a buyer with cash you're going to put the squeeze on those desperate to sell!

I understand completely but I know for a fact 1000 for a working fabia vrs is rubbish

Its not even got what people call high mileage 131k with cambelt and waterpump changed this year?

tbf my mate paid 3995 for a standard fabia vrs 55 plate with 94k on and he had to pay to get belt and pump changed sooo
