MTEC Brakes

Featured Replies

Any one used these before on their vrs ? Looking at getting some for mine tomorrow as my front pads are getting quite low and my rear disks are shot.

Standard brakes on the car and don't want to go brembo but would like a better bite than standard I'm looking at these

Cheers Ken

I think the concensus is drilled and grooved just cause more problems than they are worth.

Id probably fit standard Pagid or stuff from TPS.

Based on my experiences, drilled and grooved aren't worth it on a road car - maybe for a track car, but not on the road.

However - if you want more stopping power and don't want to go Brembo, the pads are more important than the discs. Ferodo DS2500 pads + the best 'standard' discs you can afford = a compelling prospect.

I'm a huge fan of Mintex pads. The standard red box Mintex pads are OK for standard pads but I run 1144s on everything. If the lawnmower had brakes, I'd use 1144s on it! Reasonably priced, good cold bite and work well for light track use with a modified car as well. This is with whatever discs came on the car when I bought it. Some people may moan about the dust and occasional squeak, but I'd rather be able to rely on my anchors than worry about dirty wheels or squealy brakes.

I'd say forget the fancy discs, find some decent standard plain discs (Mintex discs are pretty good as well) and put the money towards the pads instead.

A friend of mine is a Mintex dealer and he's been supplying me with decent pads for years. Let me know if you want his contact email to see what he can do. You'll need the Mintex pad shape part number but he can price you up the various compounds and also discs too.

Well it's disks and pads I need as the rears are knackered so saying I'm replacing them I was just going to replace the full lot and I need them asap as I'm low on the front

Racecar brakes are often squeaky, just tell people that :)
