Steering wheel/driver's airbag removal

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I can't remove driver's airbag (disconect it from steering wheel).

I only see two holes in the steering wheel...

Any ideas how to do this?

First disconnect the battery for at least 30 mins .... This cannot be stressed enough ... I usually leave it an hour.

Put a flat bladed screwdriver in each hole in turn and lever down gently this will release the clips that are holding the airbag in place. Carefully pull airbag assembly away enough to get to the wires for the airbag and horn, once these are removed you can fully remove the assembly. Make sure to store it with the badge on the ground/surface that it is resting on.

The steering wheel is removed by undoing the M12 Spline drive bolt in the middle. This bolt can be reused up to 5 times apparently.

Ensure that you mark the position of the wheel carfeully the splines are very fine.
