Micro Can upgrade to Hex + Can USB

Featured Replies

I already own a Ross Tech Micro Can genuine cable, but since having changed to new Fabia, I need the Hex + Can USB.

I know that I can return to Ross Tech and get a upgrade for $150 but I would have to ship back to the USA.

Do any of the UK distributors offer this upgrade?

Why do you need a HEX+CAN for the Fabia III - it is a CANbus car, not a K-line?

Edit - just seen that the Micro CAN only supports the Mk5 Golf platform, so you are correct, you do need to upgrade for the latest generation.

Have you tried Gendan or Ilexa?

I tried to call the UK suppliers today but they are all shut on Saturdays.

I looked at the compatibility chart, but the Mk3 is not yet on the list.

I must admit I really don't know what the mk3 uses.... It would be great if I can use my current Micro Can

Info is a bit contradictory as the latest A3/Golf/Octavia are all compatible with the Micro-CAN, so the Fabia III should be as well.

Only one way to find out - try it :)

I will give it a try and post results tomorrow. :)

If it doesn't work then the s/h interface usually sells on eBay etc for better money than the trade in RT will give you.

Good news, the Micro Can cable does work on the Fabia MK3  :D  It doesn't seem very supported yet, I only had a brief time to play, before I had to go out. I tried to enable the "needle sweep", but when I went to save the new coding, I got a message about it not being fully supported or something, with 3 options, "yes, No or cancel" so I hit the cancel until I can check what I'm doing!

Thanks again for the help.
