Losing breath and uncontrolled kickdowns

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

First time posting here. Just bought a Superb 2.0 TDI with DSG from 09 a few months ago. Since then, I've noticed some strange DSG related ( I think ) things. Everytime I drive into a sharp curve, or when I go into a roundabout, my Superb seems to loose its breath, when I then press the pedal a little bit more, then it instantly does a kickdown.

Have anyone else tried this, and do you know what might be wrong?

Thanks.

Guess on my part, servicing was when and oil level in the gearbox.

Sorry for the late response. I just checked the papirs, since I just got the car, and it seems they checked the fluids in September 2013. They didnt write down the oil level.

Hi!

I have noticed this behaviour in my Superb TDi with DSG. You will get a harsh kickdown if you are not easy on the throttle through a roundabout.

My theory is that it is the ESP/ASR that is preventing a downshift during high lateral acceleration and a lot of steering input to prevent wheel spin and skidding if the road is slippery. The acceleration in too high a gear will make the car seem sluggish and out of breath. Then when you are going straight again and the ESP allows a downshift, you have kept pressing the accelerator pedal so the kickdown will be enthusiastic. ;)

Yeah that might be it. Its just extremely annoying sometimes, and a little scary when someone is in front of you.
