After some suspension upgrade advice!

Featured Replies

Afternoon ladies and gents!

Well I've had my little VRS for a fortnight now - and the bugs already hitting me! :)

My biggest bug bear with it is the stance! It's just too dam high.. so as you can expect, I've spent the last fortnight between Briskoda and different performance sites planning 2016 lol..

Anywho.. wife's seen me on a certain site taking a longing look at the

Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit Suspension Kit - and after getting miffed at me spending more time with the screen than her; piped up and offered to buy it me for our wedding anniversary..

Jaw still hasn't retracted from the floor.. :-)

Needless to say - I'm excited! Even if I won't be getting it until Feb!

From its service records - nothing seems to indicate ANY work carried out on the original factory suspension, and by February she'll ticking onto 57/58k.

Is it wise to be replacing Wishbones, Ball joints given the relatively low price?

Is the eibach front ARB worth the extra £20 compared to the Whiteline?

Just after some general advice really, as this'll be my first experience with suspension upgrades! (I've got some help) :-)

Forget getting an aftermarket front arb its a rear arb you need, the whiteline is excellent. Good choice on the bilstein kit but dont expect it to close your massive arch gap too much, you need coilovers for that. Last thing whilst doing the suspension is well worth sticking ibiza cupra console bushes in the rear of the wishbone where they go in the ally consoles, these really improve the feel of the car.

Replacing the bushes were top of my list prior to the kit purchase.. so they will defo get done.

I had ordered a RARB but cancelled after realising the Cambelt was overdue it's 4 yearly change! This and purchasing the car had left me jurassic!

The cars I've seen on coil overs do look nice, and the adjustability would be nice.. but the 25mm reduction in ride height quoted I think will do me.. I also like Eibachs 'fit and forget' marketing line.. lol.

The wife was just about okay with the size of the Fabia, it's okay with a two year old.. we found out were expecting our second - and she's told me it's not big enough now - it isn't but I'm not parting ways with her..

Octy Mark 2 VRS seems to be on the cards!! :-)

If your changing the suspension you may as well get new top mounts, bump stops and drop links.

Problem solving bushes (psb) are a good option for poly bushes as they are cheaper than powerflex etc.

The Ibiza bushes can be a pain if you don't have the right tools, but the psb bushes are really easy to fit.

The bilstein and Eibach combo works really well together

Recently done my pd100 estate with new Sachs shocks with eibach 30/25mm springs with new top mounts etc and it's much much better, no more 4x4 arch gap and it holds the road a lot nicer but still retains some of the standard comfort
