Just joined the site after buying a low mileage MK1 Octavia VRS recently. I'm normally a VW man and have had Polo, Golfs, Scirocco etc but have fancied a VRS for a while and finally gave in when needed a bigger daily. I'll get some pics up when I get the chance to give it a decent clean! It's a great driving car and so tight.

 

Got an engine management light on yesterday, p1296 which from reading through the site I can see is a common issue usually the coolant temp sensor or thermostat. Cleared the code and hasn't come back on yet but going to get the temp sensor sorted asap.

 

Anyone any idea cost of thermostat and how big a job it is incase need to go down that road?
