Skoda Fabia mk2 1.2 HTP 44kw LPG

Featured Replies

Currently, I own two fabias mk2, before these, I had felicia 1.9D from 1999 (I sold it in 2013 with 145 000 km), and company cars, fabia mk1 HTP from 2003 (sold in 2007 with 230 000km) and another mk2 from 2007 also HTP (sold in 2013 with 180 000 km).  Wish in the near future is a large familly car like Octavia scout, Superb estate or Seat alhambra-VW sharan, of course 4x4. I am a big fan of VW group and 4x4 models

The fabia I drive now is mk2 from 2007, 1.2 HTP 44kw, LPG installed. I  bought it from my aunt in 2011 when it had 12 000 km, now it has 104 000 km. A lot has been done on modifications, it is my first personal vehicle:), I am sending the pics, and let me just say what has been done:

exterior: OEM bihalogen projectors, now bixenon with chinese CN Light slim ballasts 6000K, fog lights also CN Light Xenon 6000K, front turn lights-cree LED amber ,front tail lights (parking lights) also led, rear turn lights amber led, fog and reverse cree LED, rear tail lights also led bulbs. the only problem are rear brake lights which wont accept led or cree led, but i will write in the next posts about that. Tyres for summer are dunlop sport blue response 195/55/15 alloy and for winter 195/55/15 dunlop winter sport steel rims.

interior: nothing special, except Audiosources android multimedia, eight OEM speakers and pionner active sub :D  steering wheel is aftermarket leather, and I have chineese rear parking camera fitted on multimedia

the pics

And now the problem i currently have: if I put led or cree in the rear brake lights it puts the car into safe mode. How can this be solved, by putting a resistor to increase the resistnace bacause leds have low resistance?  What led or cree to use? This does not happen to my other FL fabia from 2011, everything works fine even when cree led is inserted in rear brake lights...thanks for help!

some new pictures of my two fabias. Currently, the older one has 147 000 km (year 2007), and the newer one has 68 000 km (year 2011). I wait for the 2018 mk3 facelift ...maybe the older one gets a replacement....but I must say that driving on LPG has made me savings about 4000 euros till now.

Unfortunatelly, the older mk2 died at 185 000 km, 28.10.2018. And it died on autobahn! I drove till Bretten near Stuttgart from Belgrade and just at the moment of arrival at my destinantion I sttoped and tried to start the engine again. It started to shake and funny crackling noise came from engine. I sttoped immediately. You can see what happened with spark plug…I came back home and sent a towing car for it. Road help service doesn’t help in these cases…they wanted 2500 euros for towing till Belgrade (Serbian national automotive club road assistance would pay that summ to ADAC who would tow me 1300 km in one direction). So I found a guy on adverts who has a big lorry for buying used cars and he asked only 500 euros. What caused this…looks like the main engine chain elongated a bit and caused bad crankshat functioning thatt caused cylinder missfire. Cylinder no3 had catastrophic misfire specially on high revs (5000 revs, 150 kmh) and it melted the spark plug ending.

When I opened the engine, nothing was so much damaged?! So, total general repair was only 600 euros (new piston rings, new chain set, new clutch set, new pistons and engine block and head were refurbished). Car was sold successfully after one month on adverts for 3000 euros.

Here is an interesting calculation about this car:

-bought from the first owner for 6000 euros, 4 years old, 12 000 km, (new was 12 000 euros)

-used it for 7 years, did 185 000 km, from which 180 000 on LPG

-invested 3000 euros in upgrades,

-invested 3000 euros in normal maintenance and 1000 euros in unpredicted interventions (like this general engine repair)

-saved 5500 euros driving on LPG (difference on gasoline and LPG price for 180 000 km)

-sold it for 3000 euros.

All in all totally satisfied with the car. My first personall car. I was everywhere in Europe with it:)
