Help me decide: opinions needed!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So... I have had my car for a couple of weeks now: Octavia II pre FL VRS in Sprint yellow. I bought the car based on a combination of condition (very good), reviews, drivetrain (never owned any VAG vehicles, as I generally drive turbocharged JDM cars, but have heard good things about the 147TSI), and price (it was a great deal).

With the exception of an ex show car ( https://www.google.com.au/search?q=chargespeed+v35&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAWoVChMImsrY4vnlyAIVA3mmCh2KHQMF#imgrc=k8XZZUxbpgGh-M%3A ), which was an extreme choice for me, my cars are normally left pretty stock looking (OEM body kit, muted/plain coloured), and modified for performance, if at all.

I love the Skoda: very impressed with the package as a whole, but it's just so........ YELLOW!

To date, I've had the factory 18" wheels repaired and painted gloss black, I have a superskoda-sourced front splitter (black) sitting in my spare room awaiting fitment, and a set of lowered springs on its way to me.

My issue lies with the rest of the visuals: I initially had in my head that I'd break up the yellow with some black vinyl wrap on the chrome grille surround, bonnet, roof and centre blade of the spoiler, and go with the whole yellow and black theme. I'm now having a styling dilemma, and would appreciate opinions (I'm pushing 40, and the vinyl thing is striking me as perhaps a bit boy-racer)...

Bearing in mind that the car is my daily driver, it needs to remain practical (I have a weekend toy for show/shenanigans). I will be keeping the current rims and fitting the front splitter irrespective of what else I do.

Option 1). Continue as per the above

Option 2). Fit/wrap a couple of pieces here and there ( maybe side mirrors, spoiler blade, etc) and wrap the grille in black vinyl.

Option 3). Leave the yellow alone, and

A:colour code the grille surround in body colour

B: blackout the grille

If anyone is willing to photoshop/provide images, it would be appreciated...

Must be approaching midlife crisis: I'm not normally so indecisive!

Bring on the opinions...

Just go with the black and yellow theme... Always a winner.

I'm 41, and my car is red and black... Doesn't look chavvy in the slightest. In fact I get stopped often and complimented on how well it looks. Just last night, the guy at McDonald's drive thru window kept me there asking loads about my car, much to the annoyance of the queue behind!

As long as you keep it Black grill, alloys, roof and mirrors it will look fantastic.

Always loved the Yellow VRS with black highlights.

Best of luck fella

3 IMHO.

Styling is very personal and will always divide opinion.

The Sprint Yellow is a rare choice, I would be leaving it totally OEM...

Just my opinion but this is never a good look regardless of the base colour...

Thanks to all who replied!

I think I'm closer to a decision now: saw a little Clio RS in yellow driving the other way today: lots of black around the grille, and gloss black mirrors: looked great: I'm leaning toward this look, not least because it's way easier to get the grille wrapped in my car than paint it
