Columbus CD/DVD drive fault?

Featured Replies

Went to load new firmware/maps on my Columbus H/unit today and I can't seem to get it to physically accept the DVDs.  I've never needed to use the CD drive since I bought the car until now so don't know if it's ever worked.

When I put the DVD into the slot it I can here it trying to do something and I get a message on screen saying "Loading CD/DVD please wait" and then it just sits there doing nothing.  When I take the disc out of the slot it says "Ejecting CD/DVD please wait" so it's obviously detecting the disc but doesn't do anything else.

I've tried a reset and another disc but still nothing and I'm beginning to think the drive is faulty.  Is there anyway I can replace it without having to buy a whole new unit?

I have a dvd drive for sale, in the link in my sig. However, it could be just poor quality discs. Try a genuine dvd movie and see if it works.

Will give it a try, the fact that it doesn't even go intot the slot makes me think it's def the drive.

Will let you know about buying yours!

Ah, I didn't understand your post. I thought it was actually loading and doing nothing. In that case it sounds like a fecked drive.
