How many vRS' made?

Featured Replies

I've been looking everywhere on line to try and find out how many MK1 Octavia vRS' were made in hatch and estate... my understanding is there were far less estates but can't find a number... the only one I can seem to establish is that there were 100 wrc's

any ideas?

(Sorry if its been covered before, I have had a good look...)

LOTS :D

I wonder how many have been stolen, crashed or broken!

More than still on the road I bet, mines a cat c im not letting die

not sure about how many made as they were available in a lot of countries but www.howmanyleft.co.uk is a good resource to see how many are in the uk

Remember if looking on howmanyleft that most in the UK are registered just as RS and not VRS.

According to this their numbers were at a peak about 10 years ago (approx 4800). Now down to about 3300. It doesn't distinguish between hatch/estates but there are definitely less estates than hatchbacks. I think the earliest estates are 03 reg and the earliest hatchbacks are X/Y reg (though I've never seen an X reg one on the road!).

Vrs came out on a 51 originally

I have had a look at 'how many left' and would agree that we're looking at around 4800 at the peak, although being a biff it took me a while to work it out! HaHa!!

I have also been keeping my eye on the classifieds for ages as I've been looking for an estate vRS... and if you work out the proportions of hatch/estates from used sales the estates are a lot less in number. On the weekend I counted 23 hatches and 3 estates at one point, very loose and general but a good indication.

(Of the 3 available there was only really one worth considering viewing... good origanal OEM ones are hard to find!)

Yes they are hard to find! Any particular reason you don't want a hatch? The boot is still huge on the hatch and I think it looks a bit better with the 17" wheels rather than the 16s on the estate. Are you also aware of the rusty tailgate issues on the mk1 estates?

Hey,

Simply space... I appreciate the hatch is massive but there is going to be the inevitable occasion when we need the bit of extra room. We have 2 small boys, and we all have bikes, I have 3 kayaks and the roof bars are extremely handy for this. We have a caravan on an all-season pitch which means we're taking car loads of stuff up and down Devon and Cornwall etc.

As for the boot lid issue... yes I am aware and it has been one of my areas of particular attention when looking.

I have found a car which I am going to look at Saturday, it looks good, keep your fingers crossed for me. I have been hankering after a MK1 vRS estate for ages, and I'm so close!! Can't wait, been a long road.

Best of luck with your search, I spent a few months looking for mine!
