Featured Replies

Coming through contraflow on M5 at Clevedon this afternoon the Cruise Control would'nt work (40mph cameras everywhere)

Stopped off at Gordano Services fine on restart.

Any Thoughts?

Yup - I had this. Funnily enough, my car was in at St. Andrew's Skoda today getting this fault fixed. They said that they'd received a technical bulletin (presumably from Skoda) saying that some of the cruise switches fitted to Mk2 Octavias could stop working and any affected should be replaced under warranty.

Mine was like yours, stopped working until the ignition was turned off then on again, well until a couple of weeks ago when it stopped working altogether! That was when I contacted the garage....

Thanks

I'll contact dealer in Morning

Not related but my Stream radio parking sensor display has stuck on after I change out of reverse a couple of times. Have to turn off ignition, then back on and power off-on the radio to clear it. Maybe there's a bulletin for that.

I'm not sure to be honest, as I don't work for the dealership and, given a certain manufactuter's attitude, wouldn't admit to working for one anyway!

I know my Stream unit does odd things every now and again, mostly it forgets to turn on the display backlight although I haven't managed to consistently repeat the fault, it has something to do with the parking sensors and the on-screen display. Switching it off and back on puts things right.

The latest trick is to for the parking sensors to beep a couple of times as normal when in reverse, then the parking sensor light on the switch goes off, the radio jumps back to normal volume, a higher pitch beep is sounded, then a second later the normal beeps resume, radio mutes, parking switch light goes back on again. It repeats this but only when the headlights are on?!?!! The dealer is stumped too!

Ah well, just means my car is like me - a little quirky! :D

Just had the cruise control thing fixed on mine. Gradually got worse, not fun having the cruise control switch itself off on the motorway.

Was it the faulty switch problem mentioned above?

As far as i know, yes. It's a company car so i don't realy pay much atention to what gets done to it, so long as it all works afterwards.

check the brake light switch under the brake pedal. Mine was faulty and kept knocking the cruise control off.

I posted a thread earlier this year ref parking sensors and the general response from the forum was that I was a little short on attention when reversing and that I should have been using my mirrors!

Mine does funny things like no roger bleep, constant bleeping when nothing there, radio display not switching to car map. Once, I was reversing and I had managed to scrape my bumper on a low skip but the sensors were still bleeping - not a continuous tone. Thus system still thought I had space behind me. Dealer said he updated software in the radio but the sensors are unrelated so unable to help!!

Sounds like there is an underlying problem that is slowly surfacing...

There might be some gremlin in the works somewhere. The sensors in my car have returned to normal, whether the lights are on or off! It doesn't really make any sense as I did the obvious thing and checked the sensors to make sure there wasn't any dirt on them. Like I said earlier, maybe the car is just developing a wee quirk! It's due for its first service next week, so I'll ask St. Andrew's to have a look at it and see what they say!

Hi all.

I am the owner of a new octy 1.6 FSI.

I try to find a cruise control that would fit my (our) car.

I have found a part for golf V.

Is there a specific part for my car?

Does anybody know a part number?

Thanx.

From memory an earlier thread covered this. The sensors need to be cleaned.

Mine is currently erratic and the car is in need of a good wash.
