Rear silencer

Recommended Posts

Bad times! I'm thinking of a universal back box, any experience with them at all?

Not for years, but my experince with universal boxes is that they never fit properly, with the exit at an odd angle usually or needs major bodging to make it straight and not stick out too far

Alternatively, I was thinking of getting an aftermarket exhaust anyways, do you think it'd be worth getting the rear silencer removed instead? Cheaper and may sound a bit better

I did this with mine. Was short on cash when mine fell apart. Found a local stainless exhaust company to remove rear silencer and replace with 2.5" stainless pipe with a tailpipe welded on. Doesn't sound terrible at all, in fact just the opposite.

That's the thing, I thought it'd sound alright, there's already a silencer in the middle isn't there?

Yes, there's a centre silencer aswell. Its each to there own I suppose but I like the way mine sounds.

Can you pop a recording on here? My back box is also beginning to show signs of age so thinking of what to do! Especially as funds are low!

Ended up with a fairly cheap universal backbox, going to see what it sounds like, if it's rubbish I'll try to just see what a pipes like!

Again, a sound recording would be good to hear if you can!
