How to waterproof bike kit

Featured Replies

Recipe:

1 dirty Gortex jacket

1 pair dirty Gortex trousers

1 washing machine

1 bottle of Nikkwax tech wash

1 bottle of Nikkwax reproofer

Method:

Remove armour and liners

Place both items of clothing in washing machine with recommended quantity of techwash

Wash as per clothing instructions

Once complete, add reproofer and start wash cycle again

When cycle is finished, remove clothing from machine

When all the water has run over the kitchen floor, mop up with the nearest thing to hand, but not one of the new bath towels

Place clothing on hangers in airing cupboard, so it drips over the other new towels, to dry overnight

Remove from airing cupboard and lay clothing on bed to refit armour and winter liners

Run like hell as the water in the pockets runs out all over the bed soaking sleepy lady therein

Well at least I know my fags won't get wet

Bike kit is more important than towels however new natch

CFB - you omitted one step:

Remove linings and wash separately

Yup, forgot, you're right.

Only because I only put them in after the rest of it was cleaned.
