Mk1 Octavia Sat Nav

Featured Replies

I just bought a 2002 Octavia which has the Sat Nav unit fitted. The previous owner said the battery was flat on the car before I went to view and that the stereo just required the code entering in. I have the code for it but after buying it and getting it home I tried putting the code in but the whole screen seems to be frozen and says that the unit is locked. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting it to see if it made any difference but it hasn't. I'm not sure if the unit has been fitted from factory as I'd expect it to have a GPS antenna at the base of the ariel or that strictly true? I'm considering just fitting an aftermarket sterio as I've got a couple in my garage but I'd like to know if the Sat Nav unit actually works.

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Usually you are allowed 3 attempts to enter the code , then it will lock out , it should reset its self after about 1 hr allowing you to try again , not sure if it has to left switched on or off for the hour.

The unit will need to be left powered up for at least one hour uninterrupted. You'll then get a single chance to enter the code one more time, then the lockout time increases exponentially.

It sounds like someone has attempted to enter the code already, so the code you have may not be the correct one.

Thanks for replying guys. I've never tried leaving it powered up for an hour so I'll give it a go.

The code is written in the book and is also written on the unit itself so I'd expect it to be correct but you never know it could still be the wrong code.

Should there be a gps antenna at the base of the roof ariel? I had a b5 s4 with factory nav which had the gps antenna and I've seen it on other vag cars also.

Another question, if I can't get this unit to work how do I go about changing the fascia to single din? Nobody seems to do a fascia for it. Is it a case of getting the part from another car? It's probably not available because the majority of them would be single din from factory wouldn't they?
