VRS Questions.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just ordered a new VRS but hoping you will be able to answer a couple of questions.

·         I ordered the Black Pack Plus with the 19Inch wheels and a space saver.  I have read a couple of posts saying                 you can’t get a space saver with the xtreme wheels.  Can you use the space saver with the xtremes?

·         In sport mode can you turn off the synthesized engine note into the cabin but still have sport mode on? or is this              a VCDS option.

Cheers

You can order a spare wheel with that pack.

You can't change the sport setting but you can have an individual setting minus the sport noise, for example have it set to economic.

If you know you don't want the sound, get it turned down or off by them before pick up. I unplugged mine under the plastic cover around wiper spindles. I replugged it at service time. And it dosen't bother me now, so its still on.

I may be wrong, but I thought the MY2015 and later VRS' had the option to turn off the sound generator through the infotainment options.

You can, yes.

EDIT:

Not sure exactly when this became an option, just know it is on the new ones presently.

All I know for sure is that my MY2014 VRS doesn't have the option! :)

Think mine is MY15 and doesn't have it :(

These are options from an Rs 230 as there is an option to change front diff and the standard vrs hasn't got one!

From MY16 in Individual mode you can set the sport engine sound (soundaktor) settings between eco (off), normal (low) and sport (high).

I have it on my GTD and confirm it works. I tend to play around with normal throttle and sport noise and sport throttle and eco noise....its nice having the option at least.

Might be placebo effect but I find the car does go a little better in full Sport mode anyway and I like the noise so it stays in sport most of the time unless I am sat on the motorway.

.....something I have found as well is that the car is alot more urgent off the mark with ESC Sport enabled.

I think the ASR and XDS works overly hard to quell wheelspin and actually serves to slow the car down from a standing start.

It's from the Amundsen instruction book and is the same one given to all Octavia's produced after 05/2015. They print a complete list of options/features/items so as to only need print one version for all vehicles. It's cheaper than having to create separate manuals for each spec.

For example my MY15 manual has a chapter detailing the electronic boot for the estate, even though mine's a hatch.

Yes I know that but was meaning the options shown are for the 230 so maybe the sound change is also only available on the 230 as is the diff change! Mine is MY14 and I can't change the sound on the settings unless I put it in eco! Although the sound generator is very easy to inplug but after unplugging it the engine was so quiet I may as well own a hybrid so needless to say I plugged it back in as I love the little touch it adds when slamming the foot down :)
