MK II Front badge removal

Featured Replies

Did not want to revive an old thread to ask this, has anyone removed the front badge without drilling out the melted pegs in the back?

I had a go with the grill surround in situ but it seemed hard going so I chickened out. Also thought I might need a bigger drill bit...

I replaced my skoda badge in my pre face lift Octavia heat it up with a hair dryer to soften the glue and I levered behind with a small screwdriver carefully mind and when the badge is off clean off the old glue and the badge locates via two small tabs into holes in the grill

I did the same as christophVRS, but also used some dental floss in a sawing action behind the badge before using some trim removal tools to lever it off carefully. I saw no need to drill the lugs. Has to be noted I went through quite a lot of floss! I've since read fishing line might have been a better choice. :notme:

This was on a pre facelift, but I would assume it is similar on a facelift? Maybe someone with a FL can help.

On my fl I just used trim tools with no drilling or floss.

Thanks guys will give it ago the pins on my badge are melted to the grill surround so hopefully they will just break off at the join.

As above use a hairdryer to get the badge nice and warm. If you've got any gaffer tape to mask and protect the area around the badge so much the better
