Wing Mirror Price

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a dealer price to hand for an off-side complete wing mirror assembly for a Fabia vRS?

Thank-you kindly :)

Steve

Just shy of £80 unpainted Steve.

If you have a number it might be easier as there are one or two but thats a rough guide.

Cheers Stu. What do you mean by 'number'

Do you mean there are a few different part numbers for it? Thought it would be the same one used on all Fabia vRSes? A standard heated and electric one...

Just looking through the Buttco Fabia parts catalogue PDF, and they have a Mirror Primed R/H (Electric) at

Yep part number mate - should be stamped on the existing one.

You choose!!!

Just popped into my nearest dealer, Claybank, and walked out with a quote for £151.13 - with fitting and paiting

For a wing mirror?! Will this be typical do you think, or is it worth me ringing round some other dealers? Labour's quoted at £16.80 and paint at £45, both ex VAT.

OK cheers, Steve. Looks like I'll have to grin and bear it then

Just a thought though - isn't the VW Polo unit near identical, ie could one of those be used? Not sure on part prices (if someone could advise?) but there's a VeeDub dealer a damn sight nearer than my nearest Skoda one, as in 2 mins down the road?

Thoughts?

Alternatively, buy the wing mirror unpainted and either get a quote from your local bodyshop, or get a spray can made up from Halfords and spray it yourself. :D We colour coded the black mirrors on our Scooby and it looked better than the front spoiler that the Subaru recommended bodyshop sprayed up!

Other option is to try a scrappy for an already sprayed up mirror :D

Cheers Chris, good thoughts! How easy is the wing mirror fitment? Did occur to me, and have a name of a local bodyshop I could try, but wasn't sure on how fiddly a job it was.

I've only got the shell left at the moment! Motor is still working but garage said it would be a whole new assembly. Metal on the door pillar has been pushed out slightly as well, but that should hopefully push back in.

Did have a look on eBay and on Buttco. Buttco wasn't that much cheaper on the basic ex-VAT unit price, and their part code is slightly different to the one printed on today's estimate :( Any scrappies you can recommend?

Steve

If it's just the glass which is missing, you can get new ones at Halfords for under a tenner :D

Nah unfortunately the plastic casing is in pieces too! It's just the bottom of the mirror (the metal part) and the motor that remains really. As the motor still works, I got it checked out today, but it's the whole thing I need :( Car was attacked by a passing vehicle when parked, it would seem

Glass was still fixed to its plastic backing amazingly, found it hanging down the side of the car, still fixed to its electrical wiring for heat/movement...

Steve

If you want a price for a cheaper one PM me Steve, I have someone I can ask for you.

Cheers for the offer Stu, but I booked it into Claybank, for fitting next Wed. Decided I had to 'bite the bullet' and get it sorted. You realise that it's actually quite a useful piece of equipment for driving - you only miss something's when its gone etc etc ;)

Steve

Just to make you feel better, I got a mirror for my Rover (electric, heated) off Ebay for the grand total of £16.01 including delivery, and I didn't even have to paint it 'cos the cover clipped off the old one.

;)

Thanks, it does make me feel better........

That you have the Rover and I have my vRS ;)
