Can't get into any gear anymore while engine is running

Featured Replies

I have read a few post but am not sure where to start on this challenge.

After 5 weeks not using my octavia it started fine. But the clutch peddle had moved totally backwards. After manually bring it forward again I could not go into any gears. I tried pumping it but no luck.

I can go into gear when the engine is off and the clutch stays disengaged but going from 1 into reverse will go with a some quick grinding and a bang. The last time I drove my car the temperature outside was still around 18 Celsius and was now 7. Before if I would reverse into the drive after a drive I had the same grinding and bang. I had problems before going not into the next gear only after pushing harder.

The octavia has done 166k miles and goes like a train if only I can get it into gear. The system was bled a year ago but not much came out. Can someone help with ideas or is this a major repair

The problem is the clutch is not releasing.

Can you see if the slave cylinder is moving the actuator arm to release the clutch when the pedal is depressed?

Just wondering if I can bleed the system by push and keep the peddle down .open close the bleed nipple on the slave and then pumping a few times and leaving it down again and close the bleed nipple.

Online there are many ways simular but it says in the manual it's a presurised system and needs special bleeding equipment. What is right here ?
