Featured Replies

Hallo,

Does anyone know anything about the new amundsen radio.

I want it in my Octavia. ;)

It´s from the new yeti!

Interesting. It looks the same physical fitment as the old Amundsen and Columbus so it probably will physically fit but I guess it comes down to how it comunicates with the carand whether it would work or not.

Aren't the new units in 2 parts now? (Fascia and the "gubbins in the glove-box")

Some units are split into two but that one doesn't look to be.

I found the following image of the rear. Looks to have an extra connector in the quadlock and then USB/DAB/GPS/AM/FM. There isn't an obvious connection for an RVC so that might explain the different quadlock.

A VCDS scan of a Yeti with one fitted and it's pinout would be great at the stage, anyone know of such a Yeti ;)

I think that's the all new ones (Fabia 3 and Octavia 3) but since the Yeti is still based on the old platform they have kind of made some kind of half-way frankenstein stereo to fit the old facia etc but with new innards etc.

I guess the next Yeti will share the exact same stereos etc as the Fabia and Octavia 3.

Also, before plunging into a new Amundsen unit.....I'd want to see how much of the house would have to be sold to do the map updates ;)

A few part numbers for it (VW editions seem to start 5C0 rather than 5L0).

5L0 035 680 (H05, without DAB?)

5L0 035 680 A (H05, with DAB/DAB+/HD radio?)

5L0 035 680 B

5L0 035 680 C (H20)

Also found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281823034664

Looks like it will physically fit but needs component protection removing and navigation activating. Probably worth waiting a little while until it's fully understood for MK5/MK6 golfs as it should be similar for the MK2.
