ICE Problem.

Featured Replies

Bit of an odd one this, I have the standard Symphony O.E. ice unit in my VRS, I've had the same CD in for a month or so, it's been switched back and forth between the CD and the Radio and played each without any problems. I burned a couple of new CD's last night and when I played the first one it would play fine for around a minute or so and then just stop. I tried clicking over to the next track which the indicator shows it has done but, it still won't play, I switched it off and got the message "No Disc" when I switched back on, so, I switched it off and back on again and then it started playing as it normally would. I switched through every track to make sure it would play each one ok and it was fine. So, I thought Hm... just a wee glitch.

This morning I decided to play the second disc, ejected the one that was in and inserted the new one and again got the "No Disc" message. I tried to eject it with no results at all even after switching the unit on and off several times it won't play or recognise that there is a disc in the machine, the radio works fine, and in that respect it seems ok.

So, the questions are, is the unit now f....d?, has anyone else experienced this and what was their solution, do I just put up with having radio only?

I have a spare Din E unit which I could fit but, I'd like to keep the original look of the car if possible (keeps the light fingered brotherhood from giving it unwanted attention), any suggestions as to what the problem might be folks? I'll fit the spare rather than spend money that I quite frankly don't have just now, but it would be nice to know if I can get the old 'un fixed, or am I just wasting time and money there?

Cheers, Jimbo.

Turns out that it was a faulty batch of Tesco CD-R's that was the problem, everything is working properly with Maxell CD's, panic over.
