Anyone seen a WWO code 02J box on a vRS?

Featured Replies

I can find nothing online about this box.

It came from a vRS mark 1, on a 2002 plate. Clearly should / would have been EHA from the factory but has this odd code on it.

OK - It would appear this is likely a 5 speed 02J diesel box, but if that is the case, why when fitted to a 1.8T would it drive in the same manner (ratios etc) as a normal 1.8T petrol box.  Got me totally confused to be honest.

Someone swapped the insides? Damaged housing... oh we'll use this housing from this knackard box over here...

I don't think WWO is the gearbox code mate. From what I can see WWO is just on all VW aluminium castings. May refer to a specific foundry or plant instead.

I'd have another look and try and find the code.

I have a list of all gearbox codes ever fitted in the Mk1 Octavia, so may be able to help with ratios.

Otherwise here's a handy list (but only covers US models): http://www.zelek.com/diagram_charts/diagramlist.htm

It turned out to be a CZM box - from a 2.0 or a 1.8 non turbo car.  Oh well. :)
