Service notification / vehicle status Maxi Dot.

Featured Replies

Yeti was in for it major service today at west end garage in Bannockburn and apart from a couple of advisory points on the health check ( wipers and front discs) all was well although it's going to need the Haldex oil changed too.

The car is on variable servicing and I noticed once home that the maxi dot is now not showing how many days and miles until next service, just two dashes. I called them at the dealer and they said it takes time to re calibrate before showing info which seems strange as I don't recall it doing that after the previous service. Anyone seen this before or am I going to have to go back in to dealer to have it reset?

Had this on my previous 140 and sure enough the service details did appear after a few days.

Thanks, it was annoying me, though I know the cars is going back in soon for the Haldex oil change so would have been sorted then.

Bob is correct. It takes a few days/miles for the system to recalculate.

...which seems odd, because even the variable service interval has maxima. I'd have expected it to default to the maxima and then start reducing as the 'recalculation' takes effect.

It takes a few days on variable schedules. I've not checked on fixed regimes.

You can reset the service reminder from Maxidot, but I believe this automatically sets it to fixed service schedules.

Thanks all, I'll check it on Monday, parked up for the weekend!

Small mention for West End Gargae, not often I'm completely satisfied with the service department but both times I've used them they have been good, very friendly and efficient which is more than I hear about certain dealers in Glasgow.

One down side was the nearly new Octavia courtesy car, I think it had all of 40bhp!!

I asked this at my last service and it because the engine will check the quality of the oil once serviced and give you a service reminder for the future.

So makes sure that the oil was changed on the service and not just reset

First major service yet you need your Haldex oil changing?

How many miles has it done?

OP doesn't say it is the first major service though.

The indicator never reset, 9 days and around 300 miles later the car went back for its Haldex oil change and the technicians to check the indicator. I was informed that it would now count down within a short period after they have correctly re set.... 4 days later and 100 ish miles and it still hasn't started to count down.

I don't know what they've done to the maxi dot but I can see another visit to the dealer on the horizon.

Mines takes several days and quite a few miles to "re-register".

Ours was serviced a week ago (360 miles) and despite them being unable to reset the service interval  :wall:   this is how it now looks after I reset it via VCDS:

Mine came up as I drove it off the forecourt when I bought it.  So circuit of roundabout and straight back in.

^ Gizmo, how do you do it, I have access to a vcds , haven't had time to do a search, as I've been busy with other 'stuff' subsequent a service at my local French dealership who reset to o fixed period servicing

Apologies for delayed thanks, just done it, brill so many thanks!!  : -)))

Yeti booked back in next Tuesday as the service indictator hasn't started to count down, still showing two - - for days and miles. I have no idea what the technician has done and by telephone conversation neither do they. 3 visits in as many weeks!

Ok, now for the latest..

Went into maxi dot setting myself and found service reset, clicked ok and it's now showing service in 365 days or 9400 miles. Question is and hoping someone can advise, the car should be on variable servicing so I'm assuming this is wrong and now on fixed servicing going by the countdown?

Agreed.

Yes setting the interval via the maxidot will put it on fixed intervals.

Update.

Took the car back on the Tuesday before Christmas, they again reset the service indicator, it's still showing blank as of today having covered about 100 odd miles. They couldn't find an issues with it with West End service department advising it may take up to 1000 miles to show, yes 1000 miles because it's been reset a few times now!

Looking for some advice on what to do next, give them another chance to sort it, difficult as they will just say leave it for 1000miles, take it elsewhere and bill West End, or contact Skoda?

Get someone with VCDS to do it

I don't know anyone with VCDS to do it but what would they do that the techs at West End can't, I'm thinking they have caused a fault somewhere as it was working perfectly when it originally went in.

What plate is your Yeti on?

My June 2014, model year 2015 had problems with the maxi-dot, that the garage informed me was not an isolated case

It is on fixed service intervals and when serviced and the maxidot reset, about a month later it decided to inform me another service was due.

It went back and was reset.

A month later it went back again and was reset.

It now seems fine.
