Was the suspension declared on the policy?

Yes.

Thanks for the link JulieD.

A word on uninsured losses...

The claimant in should not be out of pocket. Here are some things to consider:

at the time of the incident, how full was your fuel tank?

how much road fund license did you lose (whole months of course)

when was it last serviced - have you lost the benefit of a 12 month service?

how old were the tyres? have you lost the potential of years of useful life?

did you need to cancel your insurance on the vehicle and have had to pay a cancellation fee?

how much time have you spend in managing it all - an phone calls etc

Did you have a car kit, Parrot etc?  Mats?

and last but not least, if you receive a sizeable payout, you should probably report it in your tax return.  Don't forget that your payment needs the value to be after tax and not before.

For anyone reading this, involving a car under 12 months old, you may well have received a hire car until a payment was agreed, but you will of course need transport for the 12 week factory build time of your new for new replacement vehicle..  your hire of a vehicle in this period is an uninsured loss you will want compensating for.

Good luck.

Kindertons are an accident management company. I had a similar experience with a different accident management company. What should've been a simple non-fault claim took nearly 6 months to sort out. In my case the 'engineer' initially made a deduction in the valuation for insignificant or non-existent 'damage' to the front bumper and also failed to make valuation adjustments the other way for cruise control, FSH and the rest of the car (minus accident damage) being in better than average condition.

If I was in your shoes my next step would be a formal complaint to Chris Knott. Also have a look at this and speak to the financial ombudsman for advice.

Have you received a partial settlement, based on their (incorrect by the sounds of it) valuation of the car?

When did you buy the car that was written off, how much for and was it from a dealer or private? Depending on the answers to that it might help give your argument more weight.

Good luck!
