Android? phone pic download to iMac, how?

Featured Replies

I have a Huawei Kestral phone and want to download some photos off it on to our newly aquired iMac. I'm a Windows guy, and a technomuppet. Computer say no! Help.

There's probably an easier way but why not email them to yourself?

And that is why I'd never buy apple...

I think sending by  Wifi or bluetooth or email is your only option.

I didn't buy Apple SWMBO did, her new iPad automatically down loads HER pics by wifi, but the 10" iPad is as big pain to lug about as a DSLR and a gadget bag. I bloody hate Apple I do, if my old machine hadn't got Alzheimers due to it's age and Windows 10 seemingly caused it to commit Hari Kari, I'd still be on Windows, did I mention I hate Apple I do. (and I'm a technomuppet)

In that case you have my sympathies as I have the same with my father in law... Apple iPad, windows phone, laptop on windows 8 that he's upgrading to 10 and a desktop that hes wrecked somehow after I had it all working ticky boo...

Does my head in and I've now told him he's on his own as I'm fed up trying to sort it all

She only wants them downloaded so she can put them on Facebook. I don't do 'Kin Facebook either. AARRRGGGHHHH! WOMEN!

It should recognise as a USB storage device. Should be in the DCIM folder.

There's also an app called doubletwist which I know is for syncing between android and mac

I've got a free app that connects Android tablets to my Mac for transferring data across. I'll have a look at what it's called tomorrow.

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

Cannot find a DCIM folder,

I will try and find doubletwist..........

The one I use is called 'Android File Transfer'.

Very basic, but does what I need: moving photos & music files quicker than wireless methods.

And that is why I'd never buy apple...

What so you can't put your android phone into USB mass storage device mode and just copy the files over via a USB cable using finder?

Always used to be able to, and I can't imagine it'll have changed.

Ah Ha, that's what is required is it, I will have a bash at that then, what have i got to lose (except all my photos....)

I hate Apple I do.

If you use 'Android File Transfer' app (from https://www.android.com/filetransfer/), then all you need to do is plug your tablet in and it will appear on the desktop as a USB device.

The window allows you to look through the folder structure of your device and find the 'photos' location to copy them across in the usual 'harg'n'drop' or 'copy and paste' manner.

It really can't get any simpler than that.

It has to be simple, it is aimed at Apple users (s******).

JOKE ALERT!!

PULL !!!!!

I hate Apple, I don't even like the fruit in its solid form. I got a book about iMacs from the library, under downloading pictures it just instructs about a bloody iPhone. I've given up, she can take her own pics in future. If Apple are too tight to give me a 2 click mouse, I can't be rsed anymore.

The first time my wife wanted to upload photos from her iPhone to her WinXP PC I spent four hours trying to get it to work; luckily a friend knew of some (Chinese language) software to do it, cause nothing I tried would work.

I also effing hate Apple

IPhone to pc is a doddle. Apple even have an app for it don't they? Everytime QuickTime updates it hounds me to install it even though I don't have an iPhone

If she just wants to put them on facebook then how about just installing the facebook app on the phone and sharing them straight from there?

Hell would freeze over before I re install Facebook that my phone came with, I have no desire to see someones dinner, a baby in a santa hat, or a cat walking into a glass door etc. My life is too full to accept so much random pony from people I neither know, or care about. (Sorry for the rant but I still cannot find the imperative need for FB)

I use a Quicktime alt program I stumbled across years ago, I wont have that POS unstable carp on my PC any longer.
