Help request re. Bluetooth retrofit.

Featured Replies

Recently had Bluetooth kit 1Z0035729B fitted to my 2008 Octavia along with an early Columbus. I found I couldn't use voice dialling because the system said the phone book was empty, but it wasn't and I could use it perfectly well through the Columbus screen. Yesterday I made a call but the recipient couldn't hear me but I could hear them fine. Today I put in a newer Columbus, hoping this might solve the phone book issue (and also my MFSW issue as volume control wasn't working). However the new Columbus hasn't resolved any of the issues! The 'no phone book' and volume control issues I can live with (for now at least) but I do need to get the phone working so that others can hear me. As this problem occurs with both head units I suspect the problem is with either the microphone or perhaps the Bluetooth unit. Is there any way to pin down the possible source of the issue without having to start replacing parts? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Sarge, did you get anywhere with this problem of yours?

The phone issue is due to the wiring behind the Columbus being wrong. When the retro-fit loom is supplied there should be two white plugs near the pass through Quadlock.

This is for the two different wiring possibilities for the BT / voice control. It sounds like you need to swap these over or make sure that they are all plugged in.

If you don't have white plugs, then I suspect you'll need to sort the wiring out yourself.

There may be a firmware workaround for the volume switch issue on your Columbus. Search this forum and the net for further info on this.

Not sure about the phone book. If it shows on the Columbus then it is working OK. Lack of voice dialling probably relates to my post above and the Quadlock loom wiring / connectors being wrong.
