As per title...

 

I'm sending my centre console off to get flocked at the weekend. Everything except for the cigarette lighter switch has been removed. How the hell does this thing come out?!

 

I could make a vicious attempt to remove it, but usually that results in something snapping and a very unhappy Alex!

 

Anyone any idea of how it is removed once the wiring plug is disconnected?

I gave up...

I could see the two tabs behind the console keeping it clipped in, I tried pushing them in and clipping it out but feels like I needed a 26" pry bar!

I just left mine in the end, good luck with yours!

I got mine out by wedging feeler gauge blades in the area of the tabs.

Got a spare centre console if you want one to practice on? It has the ciggy lighter thing fitted and I'm not arsed if it gets snapped

Could you just cut the plastic outer piece with a Stanley blade and just buy a new one?

press the inside metal tabs in, at the same time pull and with the third hand press the plastic tabs on the outside and push (its a right pain in the posteria)

I believe the dealerships use a special tool for removing it
