Engine Refurbs...BMN Engine

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Well, if the guzzling coolant and whiring turbo weren't a sign that the engine was in need of some TLC, the oil pressure sensor light popped on the other day.

After the garage replaced the oil pressure sensor, it has continued to come on and all signs are pointing to the engine being royally shagged. The garage is suggesting big end bearing and possibly camshafts, but without stripping it down its anyones guess.

By the look of things its probably going to be more economical labour wise to source a second hand or refurbed engine for my Octy VRS. Engine code is: BMN.

The garage have drawn a blank with sourcing a replacement engine so far after two weeks of looking, and I'm beginning to get a bit frustrated with them. I've seen a few pop up on Ebay but its really a shot in the dark what you are buying.

Does anyone have any recommendations of suppliers of refurbished engines?

Cheers

eBay is usually a good source, but like you say it isn't without it's risks.

Saying that, given the number of horror stories on BBC's Watchdog with a number of large engine and gearbox outfits I'd do your research first...

Remember to gut the DPF whilst the engine is out.

Ivor Searle are about the only people I'd trust to source an engine from. Get in touch with them and see what your options are. :)
