glow plug light.

Featured Replies

So the wife takes the car to work this morning. Glow plug light comes on and car goes into limp mode.

She comes home, takes my car to work, I have a little drive and all seems well. No lights on and when I plug in my code reader there are no faults (its for older renaults so might not pick up new skoda faults ).

So I call the dealer, they say they can't do anything if the light is not on and said it will probably be the dpf?????? I said wouldn't it be a dpf light if it was the dpf?

Car only has 1200 miles on it. Any ideas from anyone?

Did the car stutter badly before this happened PhilbvRS, also did the car announce any other faults?

Just wondering as my 2016 GTD threw the coil light, flashing and in limp home following a second or so of terrible jerkiness/hesitancy under throttle. Fine after a restart snd hasnt happened since....but did threaten to do so only a few days later.

Car at the time suggested a failure in my ACC and stop start systems....maybe because these systems get disabled by the ECU when in limp mode?

Is going into the dealers next week for diagnostics....im wondering if its a loose plug somewhere or an early indication of a boost pressure sensor failure.

The flashing glow plug can mean many things - usually emissions related, but not dpf, which has a separate warning light. If you scan on VCDS it will probably throw up a code. However, the codes have an associated priority tag - if it has reset and is all working fine then probably the associated tag will refer to read code at next maintenance. If it repeats then possible failure.

I've only had this once (on MQB Leon) cleared and never came back.

Ah, a franchised Skoda main dealer strikes again.

The car dropped into limp-home mode, a fault HAS been logged. For the dealer to say that there is nothing they can do without the light being on shows how incompetent or completely disinterested they are.

Try another dealer.

Skoda assistance are coming out tonight and recovering it if needed. If recovered I get a like for like car. Sounds like I even get to choose it.

Happy with that.

Result! Just ask that if it is recovered that it doesn't go to the dealers who clearly can't be arsed to fix their customers cars.

Probably a bit of a misunderstanding with the dealer yesterday. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this one as the service department has been good in the past.

It's an oil pressure sensor.

Skoda assistance chap was great, showed me what he was doing etc. Some very clever stuff in these motors!!
