Getting car valeted tomorrow, leather?

Featured Replies

Youre right to be concerned

If he knows his stuff, he wont go anywhere near your seats with wet vac machine!

Just a leather cleaner is all that is required...Modern Car leather doesn't even need a conditioner

Just be sure he knows what he's using. A dedicated leather cleaner is probably best & not just any old all purpose cleaner.

If All purpose cleaner is his method of choice be sure to know what dilution is in the bottles.

Other than that you should be OK.

The seats are being removed from the car for the clean, so might just get him to leave them and do all the carpet and door cars etc while i clean the seats.

- Wipe over with a slighy damp cloth

then

- Wipe over with leather cleaner wipes

then

- Wipe over with the product i posted (leather clean and feed)

That's a very OTT clean

Taking out the seats?

TBH...That's not usual

How bad is the interior?

You know how clean my car is Chris, but when my seats were removed for new foam bases all the tiny bits you could not get to were exposed, so I had a field day

Well ive just bought the car and like it to be as clean as possible, a once over with a hoover doesnt always do the trick for me!

Its pretty clean actually :D just removing the seats so the full carpet can be cleaned 100% and all the little bits down the side of the seats you cant get to get a nice wet vac to remove any stains etc...

Pretty much this ^

I like how everyone gets in my car says how clean it is and how it still looks like new!

Dont get me wrong, I dont do this every time i clean my car, just every now and again, its simple to remove the 4 bolts and take the seat out, then easy to keep ontop of all the cleaning and hoovering :)

I take the seats out of my cars once a year and give the carpets a hoover etc. I know of a few people that do it for a thorough clean.

Used to do it on old Fiestas as it was easy, not so these days with electrics etc.

Ok. I find that using my air blaster blows bits out and then can be hoovered away

Easier in my other cars, and daughters Ka and 500, but with this car and transmission tunnel you cannot clean thoroughly without taking them out

I guess you'd move your sofa at home to hoover under it so I guess it makes sense.......as most spend more time in the car than in our "living rooms".

I took my fabia vRS (mk1) seats out once and it was rather rather dusty/dirty underneath. Not sure I'd take the Octavia seats out though.

I wouldn't expect anything less from you Karl - that car is always immaculate!

Between you and Alan..... I'm always put to shame. :S

Still - I guess I have 2 kids in the car most of the time or the golf bats dirtying the boot!!!  :giggle:  ;)

I've told the missus no kids as they dirty the car. Our friends got In it the other week & made a mess with mucky feet & crisps! Crisps in my car!!!!

Well the jobs half done, the seats were removed and cleaned by myself while the valeter did all the carpets etc...

When he turned up he said "ohhh i didnt know it was leather, i would have brought the leather machine as well"

Basically they do leather sofa cleaning and "restoring" which is good to know, they mainly do houses etc... Thats what the business is, but as a side line he does a few car garages and sales pitches etc thats how i've known him for the past 5 year or so.

So hes coming back tomorrow to do all the leather as well, he says the machine they use on the leather cost over £3000, so does a very very good job! i told im i was worried about damage etc and he put my mind at rest, seemed to know what he was talking about at least anyway, he says hes done well over 100 other leather seats and they all come up brilliantly and worst case, he said hes got insurance :D

Be interesting to know what this 'leather machine' is :) - get some photos when he comes back!

...and this has reminded me that I need to take the seats out of the Eunos at some point, for a proper clean :D

He did say its the cleanest car hes ever had to clean though :D

I thought that was a good thing but he said no, he has had to put more effort in now to see the difference  :peek:

I know exactly what he means

Ive done some real mingers for my clients inside recently and they are more satisfying when done....you can really see you've made a difference!!

Some good photos! Did you get any witty comments from the neighbours during all of that? :D

You must have been watching behind the bushes?!

Im lucky to only have about 7 neighbours in our street and we all get on very well....

Probobly 6 out of the 7 neighbours made "witty comments"

Haha, just that I tend to get the same sort of comments :D
