Fabia mk2 bumper

Featured Replies

I need to know if I can fit a front bumper from another mk2 but the facelift model. I've got a 2007 model so it's pre-facelift. I wanted to find out before I commit to buying anything! Thanks!

I'm afraid it won't fit, the face-lift model has different shaped headlights.

Not to mention different bonnet. Front pane, wingsl and many other parts are likely to be somewhat different too. You will most likely need to rebuild the whole front end. A complete front end MIGHT work but is it worth it? You might have a hybrid but unless its done properly, try selling it again!

(I thought how cool it might be to take off the front of a small VW (caddy?) van and slap on a Fabia front. Stick Skoda badges all over and sit back and watch the confusion. If i won the lottery, I might but for now, NAH!

Someone on here has updated the front end of their Fabia, but it was a lot more than just the bumper.

Think of the resale too.

I certainly wouldnt buy it. Itd be impossible to tell how good the job is, why its been done, if its going to pose problems later on etc etc.

If i wanted a facelift fab. Id go n buy a facelift fab :D

It can be done but it will be an expensive modification. Not only the exterior parts like the front bumper, grill, fog lights (if any), headlights and side panels etc need to be replaced but the metal frame too in the engine bay that will support them. Only way I can see this be done in the cheapest possible way is to buy a write off, half a car maybe and take all parts from there.

Might be cheaper to sell his own car and buy a facelift though? Maybe?

Yes, most probably. And end up with a younger car that has less miles that you also don't have to tell your insurance you've modified. Because let's face it, the insurance will need to know if you change the entire front end.

agreed

and what are you gaining from doing it? a half arsed car?

not like you've dropped a 1.8T in, is it :D

Whilst I agree that you're not gaining much I wouldn't go as far as saying half arsed, I do think that the face-lift is a big improvement over the previous however I don't think it would be the best investment you could make by a long way.

all i meant by that, was theres quite a few differences, not just the front end

by putting the FL front end on a pre FL, all youre doing is just that..

I think you've found your answer there. Might be POSSIBLE but very IMPROBABLE, due to so many parts needed to transfer over. I think you should stick to standard stuff if you're repairing, sell and buy the newer model if its just cosmetic changes you want. Hope this doesn't sound too negative as on the outlook, it looks just like lights. They need new wings, they need new bonnet, the list goes on and on.
