Expensive Repairs

Featured Replies

I have a 2009 Octavia Estate 1.6 TDI Elegance. On Friday 4th  Dec it broke down would not run managed to get it to local garage, said no fault codes or fault history showing.

Said he didn't know what was wrong suggested taking to a Skoda dealer.

Towed car to Skoda Stirling on the Sunday as now it would not start ay all.

Monday Garage phoned said car needed new ECU EGR plus exhaust centre sleeve total cost£1,966.67.

Collected car on Thursday 10th Dec drove home 20 miles, Took Granddaughter to gym on Friday 11th 1 mile left car for 20 mins then took 20 attempts to start.

Running like really rough seems to be limited 2,500 rpm.

Phoned Garage to complain service guy said its above his pay grade cant make any decision until he speaks to service manager. Told to get car to garage explained my son was away had nobody to tow me.

Phoned again this morning 1 hour ago still waiting a response. Car still no warning lights will start but not certain how safe to drive, any suggestions on likely fault etc. would be much appreciated

You paid £2,000 for the fix?

The car is in limp-home mode.

Tell the guy at the dealers you don't give a rats arse about his salary, tell him to get someone out to collect the car ASAP and to drop off a courtesy car at the same time.

Also ask them not to call you back until they have either fixed the issue or refunded you the exorbitant amount of money they've taken off you unnecessarily.

Seriously, what is it with franchised Skoda main dealers these days?

£2,000 ?  Sorry I would not have paid that.

What's the milage on the car. Seems ridiculous it would need 2k worth of work on a 6 year old car.

Any news from the dealer? I'm always a bit suspicious when there is a problem and three things need to be replaced to cure the fault.

He's probably too busy cancelling Christmas after that bill.

Mean while the Skoda dealer are busy planning the best works Christmas do ever.

Well and truly shafted.
