How to put Chrome Tip on Keys?

Featured Replies

I remember this being mentioned in some thread but can't find it. but does anyone know how to get the plastic ends off the key? Before my car arrives I said i'd do my better half's key on her Octavia (same key)

as I have 2 chrome tips but the panels appear all as one & don't look like they come off. Do you cut them off with a Stanley knife? I'd appreciate someone's help on this.

Ah! That's the one, thanks Pete!

I changed the tip earlier on my wifes Octavia, a simple 2 minute job (when you know how!) For reference, the screw needs a T6 star head. Key looks way classier now. I'll do my Superbs one when I get it.

Can you get the chrome tip for the other end (on a KESSY key)?

What does the KESSY key look like out of interest?

Thanks but that has chrome both ends?

Yes both ends

Yes both ends

But you asked whether you could get chrome tip for the other end?

Now I’m confused

The OP (and the other threads I have seen on this subject) only mention the chrome tip for the key ring end, IF I do the spare key then I want it to be the same as the main key I posted a photo of i.e. chrome tips on each end, I have not seen a chrome tip for the key end.

Ah, I see. The spare doesnt come with double chrome but the main does, and you can't buy key end tips.

Sorry been a long day!

No Gizmo, you can't I'm afraid . I wonder is the Chrome end is not just for cosmetic purposes & maybe aids the KESSY function?
